Dress Code Policy
Purpose
This policy sets clear expectations for professional, safe, and respectful attire at PAUSA Recovery Clinic. Our dress standards support a premium health and wellness environment and help all clients, especially older clients, feel comfortable and respected.
Scope
This policy applies to:
· All team members and contractors working on-site (clinical staff, allied health practitioners, reception/admin, trainers, and support staff)
· All patients, clients, visitors, and members of the public attending the clinic (including those attending tours, appointments, workshops, and events)
Dress Code Standards (All Staff)
Professional and respectful
· Clothing must be clean, neat, and in good repair.
· Attire must be non-revealing and appropriate for a mixed-age healthcare setting.
· Revealing tops or bottoms that may make staff or clients uncomfortable or offend older clients are strictly not allowed.
Coverage requirements
· Tops must provide full coverage of the chest and midriff.
· No low-cut, see-through, backless, or excessively tight tops.
· Undergarments must not be visible.
Footwear and safety
· Footwear must be safe and suitable for a clinical and gym environment.
· Enclosed shoes are recommended for clinical and gym areas.
· Thongs/flip-flops are not permitted for staff while working.
· Footwear must be clean and in good condition.
Hygiene and presentation
· Maintain high standards of personal hygiene.
· Use minimal fragrance (some clients may be sensitive).
· Hair must be clean and secured where required for hygiene/safety.
· Nails should be clean and kept at a practical length for clinical work.
Branding and identification
· Where provided/required, staff must wear PAUSA uniform items and name badge.
· Clothing with offensive language/images is not permitted.
Role-Specific Guidance
Clinical and treatment staff (e.g., nurses, physiotherapists, massage therapists)
· Professional clinical attire or approved uniform.
· Clothing must allow safe movement while maintaining modest coverage.
Gym and recovery floor staff (e.g., trainers, allied health assistants)
· Activewear is permitted if it is modest, non-sheer, and professional.
· Leggings must be opaque.
Prohibited Items
The following are not permitted while in the clinic:
· Crop tops, bralettes, plunging necklines, or tops with excessive cleavage
· Sheer/see-through fabrics without appropriate layering
· Clothing that exposes underwear or significant midriff
· Clothing with offensive slogans, images, or political/explicit content
Patient/Client/Visitor Attire (Clinic Entry & Attendance)
To maintain a respectful, safe environment for everyone, PAUSA Recovery Clinic expects patients, clients, visitors, and members of the general public to wear clothing that is:
· Clean, non-revealing, and appropriate for a healthcare setting
· Not see-through
· Not displaying offensive language/images
Additional safety guidance (when relevant)
· Hydrotherapy: appropriate swimwear is required; please bring a towel.
· Gym-based sessions: comfortable activewear is recommended.
· Footwear: enclosed shoes are recommended for gym sessions (where appropriate).
Right to refuse entry or request changes
· If clothing is considered unsafe, overly revealing, or likely to cause discomfort to others, staff may ask the person to adjust their clothing, cover up, or change before entering certain areas.
· PAUSA may refuse entry or reschedule an appointment/event if suitable attire cannot be met.
Compliance and Management
· Leaders may discreetly address dress code concerns at any time.
· Repeated non-compliance may result in exclusion and termination of therapies and or membeershps.

Reasonable accommodations can be considered for cultural, religious, medical, or disability-related needs.
